All the stars that grace Thy skies
Shine within my soul tonight
Thy Cosmos surges in from every side
Pouring into my depths.
Every blossom in all Thy groves
Blooms within my being.
Unbounded joy from horizons afar
Flows through my soul
A fragrance deep
Mingling, merging, gushing forth again
In ecstatic praise of Thee.
This day I heed not any one
I can hear the words of none
The Cosmic Breath
Sings in my heart
Entrancing as the sweetest flute.

ReplyDeleteChobi-- very good choice
Definitely will share with other friends who would appreciate your effort!
Hi Anindya,
ReplyDeleteLiked your translation and the song.Good thing is that you have followed the notation thoroughly. In this song people generally do lot of mistakes.Like:Taaraa (paa dhaa-ni dhaa).
Also, you have perfectly maintained the rhythym of the song.Atleast, we will not fall asleep.:)
Keep it up and we want more from you.
Best of luck,
Joyoti Ghoshal
Thank you, Joyoti.
ReplyDeleteI am aware of the unfortunate tendency to sing Rabindrasangeet super-slow and at an almost subsonically low scale, and try my best to avoid that style.
There are other songs and translations as well on my blog, that you may enjoy.
Trying my best.
Anindya
ReplyDeleteGaan toh aamra shobaai gaai.Kintu tomaar moto oto bhaalo translation korte parina.Abaar gaaner sathe match kora picture.Khub khub bhaalo.
My friend,I'm too small to make comments about this song.I’ve listened to it at least 10 times and each time it feels fresh and new.You have sung this song so well. The song gives more elegant flavour on Devbrat Viswas's voice. But the song here is enjoyable, when you are dead tired or after a glass of wine.
ReplyDeleteBy far, the best rendition of one of Tagore's finest....
Tagore salute and RIP..

By Tagore:
“Music is the purest form of art... therefore true poets, they who are seers, seek to express the universe in terms of music... The singer has everything within him. The notes come out from his very life. They are not materials gathered from outside.”
Wish you the best,
Anuradha and Arundhati

Hi Kamalika,
ReplyDeleteI have faced the same problem many a times. I think it is just an internet connection thingy. If you just restart your computer, you might be able to hear the song. You don't need to download anything special on the computer.
Cheers,
Baishali
